Concentric
Deleting your data
Three different things get called this, and they do different amounts. Read which one you want before doing any of them, because one of them is not reversible.
Stop backing up
Settings → Backup, off.
New sets stop being uploaded from that moment. Your log carries on working on the phone exactly as before.
This does not delete what has already been uploaded. It is the one people mean most often and the one that removes nothing, so it is worth being clear: if you want the copy gone, you want the third option.
Delete the log on your phone
Delete the app.
The database lives inside the app, so removing the app removes it. There is no separate store left behind and nothing to clear afterwards.
Export first if you want to keep any of it — Settings → Export writes a CSV, and it takes a second. Once the app is gone the local copy is gone with it.
Delete the copy on the server, and the account
Ask, and it is done.
This is erasure proper: the uploaded log, the account, the sign-in identities attached to it, any problem reports and any feedback you sent. It is not reversible and there is no undo, so it is a request rather than a button.
How to ask
From inside the app, if you still have it
Open Concentric, tap the request-or-issue button in the header on any tab, and write "delete my data". Send it.
That is the recommended route because the report arrives attached to your install already — nothing has to be matched up by hand, and there is no identifier for you to find and copy. It works whether or not you ever signed in.
By email, if you have already deleted the app
Email the address below. Say what you want deleted, and include whichever of these you have:
- The email address you signed in with, if you used an email and password
- Which provider you signed in with — Apple or Google — and the email that account uses
- If you never signed in: roughly when you first used Concentric and on what device. There may be nothing on the server at all, in which case you will be told that.
Do not send your password, and do not send training data. Neither is needed and neither can be used to identify you.
What happens then
You get a reply confirming what was found and what was deleted. Requests are answered within one month, which is the limit the GDPR sets; in practice it is faster, because there is one person and no queue.
If nothing can be found under what you sent, you are told that rather than left assuming it worked.
What is deleted
- Every session, set, exercise, weigh-in, heart-rate sample and readiness reading uploaded from your devices
- Your routines, programs and profile
- The account itself and every sign-in identity attached to it, including a stored password hash if you had one
- Any problem reports and any feedback you sent, including reports filed before you signed in
- Anything generated from your log on the server, and the working copies behind it
What is not, and for how long
- The copy on your own phone. That is yours and nobody else can reach it — delete the app if you want it gone.
- Encrypted database backups, which are kept for 180 days and then deleted. A copy of your data can survive inside one for up to that long after the account is gone.
